Buxted Park Wedding Photography – Happy Anniversary Lucy and Adam

I can hardly believe that it is a whole year since Adam and Lucy’s wedding at Buxted Park. Tucked away in the East Sussex countryside, near the beautiful Ashdown Forest, Buxted Park country house hotel sits in its own 312 acres of private gardens and parkland. Built in the classical era in 1722 by Sir Thomas Medley, Buxted Park’s beauty made it popular with high society figures such as William Wordsworth, Winston Churchill and Marlon Brando. Today the beautiful architecture and surrounding grounds still hold the same appeal, especially for couples wanting a quintessentially English feel to their wedding day. To celebrate Lucy and Adam’s first year together and to wish them a happy anniversary I have put together a small collection of pictures from the day. I hope it brings back happy memories for them!

Sussex wedding photography at Battle Abbey School

We had a wonderful time back in April photographing the wedding of Naomi and Jim at Battle Abbey, East Sussex. Overlooking the beautiful Sussex countryside Battle Abbey School only opens it's doors for weddings a few times a year so it was a great privilege to be able to photograph Naomi and Jim's wedding in this beautiful and historic Sussex venue next to the 1066 Battlefield. As well as being the site of the Battle of Hastings this Sussex landmark also plays an important role in this couples history as it is where they originally met one summer's evening whilst both attending the fabulous Battle Abbey Proms. Naomi looked absolutely stunning in her very elegant 1930's inspired Augusta Jones wedding dress. Channel 4Beauty's make up artist Lauren Dunn was on hand to help complete the look.
The ceremony took place in the imposing setting of the Abbotts Hall inside Battle Abbey School. A wonderful moment from the day was the musicians playing The Beatles 'All You Need is Love' as the newlyweds walked back down the aisle and all the wedding guests spontaneously started to sing along and clap - making for a truly memorable exit for the bride and groom!
The wedding breakfast took place in the library with a sophisticated Art Deco inspired theme of white flowers (orchids, tulips, hyacinths and lillies) on the tables with table names based on local landmarks such as Battle Abbey and the De La Warr Pavillion. This was complimented by the elegant wedding cake decorated with hand made phalaenopsis orchids to match Naomi's bouquet. More musical entertainment was enjoyed after dinner courtesy of a male choir and later guests danced away the evening with music by The Something Happenings.

Rachel & Jonathan – A Cosy Winter Wedding

Rachel and Jonathan had been hoping for a snowy day for their winter wedding in the idyllic South Downs village of Alfriston in East Sussex.
And after all the extreme weather we’ve been having recently we couldn’t believe there wasn’t a snowflake to be seen! They needn’t have worried as the intimate setting of the George Inn with it’s roaring log fires set the scene perfectly for their cosy winter wedding.

The winter theme continued with Rachel’s bouquet beautifully styled with pink roses, winter berries and fir cones.

Jonathan’s design background was the inspiration for the table plan with each table being named after one of his favourite fonts. The cosy theme continued with table decorations of antique books and vintage postcards of the surrounding Sussex area.

The individual hand crafted cupcakes topped with sugar roses looked truly irresistible!

The George Hotel,Rye

the george in rye sussexWe had a wonderful day at The George Hotel Wedding Fair in Rye. It was really nice to attend such a stylish wedding fair showing a select collection of suppliers. It proved a great opportunity for us to meet potential clients as well other suppliers who work locally. The beautiful setting of The George in Rye attracted a good number of couples looking to get ideas and inspiration for their big day and I’m sure they weren’t disappointed. We met some lovely couples who we are looking forward to working with later this year. Thanks to Your Sussex Wedding Magazine for organising this event.

You and Your Wedding – July/August Issue

I am very excited as this month sees my work featuring in the essential magazine for all brides-to-be – You and Your Wedding. The wedding featured in this months issue is Mari & Alex who married in Winchelsea with a reception at Rye Golf Club, East Sussex. It was such a fantastic day and the sun shone all day long meaning everyone could enjoy this very English Country Wedding just as Mairi & Alex had planned. It is always exciting to see your own work in publications. I find seeing my work published like this helps me to stand back and view it firstly as I would other peoples work, with a slight detachment and appreiciation, and then, with the realisation of ‘that’s mine’, comes a strong sense of achievement.
